The Voice of a Mute
Dowyr Mawkin has always been an ugly, mute orphan, overlooked by all except the church clergy who want nothing from him but his acceptance of Heaven and the rest of the divine Sentinels.
Everything changes when Dowyr gains the Emogic power of Boredom. Sent to the Academy of Emogic to learn how to harness his power, he meets an unlikely friend in the form of Weynon Rozbury, an innocent boy whose unwavering faith in Heaven is matched only by his Emogic power of Peace.
When war is declared against the nation, the boys are thrust into the heart of the conflict, and both are forced to question how they see the world.

An Onyx in the Ash
I'll be completely honest as the guy who wrote this: I don't really recommend it. It's not necessarily bad, it's just not particularly good. Its primary saving grace is the female supporting character, who I intend on writing a proper good novel for in the future. Anyway, blurb:
It had been a week since Onyx began his journey across the ash-covered wasteland. Food and hope were running low, and the smoking ruin ahead gave little evidence of either.
Was he the only one left? Had everyone managed to evacuate the planet? Onyx pushed aside these questions, his will to survive and fear of the beckoning shadows pressing him forward. He glared at Nylie, his broken Artificial Intelligence, as she asked again if he would like to listen to some music, as if it would solve all the problems in the world. He doubted if it was even possible to solve them.
After everything that had happened, after what he'd done... not even the Gods seemed willing to save their world. Yet one question lingered in Onyx's mind: Would he ever get to see his wife and daughter again?
