I began to take interest in writing stories when I was 11 years old, but it would be another 5 years until I started taking that interest seriously. I completed my first original novel for the 2013 NaNoWriMo at age 17, a fantasy with a premise I like and an execution I don’t, to put it mildly. Soon after, I began writing a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy novella, An Onyx in the Ash, which is still available for purchase on Amazon. It’s okay. 3.6 stars, not great, not terrible. I’d like to write a standalone sequel for it some day though.

In terms of my writing style, I've always preferred a more minimalistic approach. I don't care to overly describe a character's clothing or every single object in a room. I try to keep everything to the point with enough visuals for readers to fill in the scene in their imagination. I'm also a heavy pantser; figuring my stories out as I go is a major part of why I enjoy writing. Because sometimes I get surprised by my characters. Things happen that I had never planned or expected, and as a result I like to think it surprises readers too.

As to the content of what I tend to write, I like tackling a lot of religious and spiritual themes, things that are sort of fundamental to the Christian worldview while brushing against a few other religions. I believe fantasy is one of the best genres to explore and grapple with religion in a variety of ways. One might say that my book The Voice of a Mute is a narrative argument that the concepts of real justice and life after death are linked in some way. Though that's not to say I wrote a particularly strong or profound argument for that. It is what it is.

I also draw a lot of inspiration from writers like C.S. Lewis, Dostoyevsky, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Robert Jordan, and Drew Karpyshyn. And of course from all of my favorite media, whether they're films, television shows, or video games (and, if you're as prolific a gamer as myself, you'll spot more than a couple video game references in my books).

I also do things besides write. I studied theater and film in college, my work revolves around video production, I like to produce music as a hobby and play any instrument I can get my hands on, I get outside by playing disc golf, and I'm steadily getting more into D&D. I'd love to write good TV adaptations of video games.
